“In the North Central region, sunny skies in a hazy atmosphere are expected throughout the forecast period.

“In the southern region, sunny skies with patches of clouds are anticipated, with the possibility of thunderstorms and light rains expected in parts of Cross River, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom states during the afternoon and evening,” NiMet stated.

On Tuesday, moderate dust haze is predicted over the northern region, with localized visibility of less than 1,000 meters. The North Central region will experience slight dust haze, while the southern region will see sunny skies with cloud patches and the likelihood of afternoon and evening thunderstorms, with light rains expected over Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states.

For Wednesday, NiMet forecasted moderate dust haze over the northern region with visibility of less than 1,000 meters. In the North Central region, slight dust haze with visibility ranging from 2 km to 5 km is expected. The southern region will again experience sunny skies with cloud patches and potential afternoon and evening thunderstorms, with light rains in Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states.

NiMet also warned that dust particles are in suspension and advised the public to take necessary precautions, particularly individuals with asthmatic conditions or other respiratory issues.

The agency urged caution as strong winds may precede thunderstorms, and it advised airline operators to seek airport-specific weather reports from NiMet for effective flight planning.
