NIPOST workers block newly appointed CEO from entering premises

In a surprising turn of events, staff members at the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) have taken to the streets, effectively closing down the organisation’s Abuja head office. Their grievance centers on the appointment of Tola Odeyemi as the Chief Executive Officer/Post Master General.

Just last week, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Presidential spokesman, announced President Bola Tinubu’s changes to leadership positions within communication agencies, including NIPOST.

However, shortly after the news of Tola Odeyemi’s appointment, reports emerged suggesting the reinstatement of the previously sacked Post Master-General, Adepoju.

A viral video showed Adepoju addressing his fellow workers, claiming that President Tinubu had reappointed him, leading to widespread confusion within NIPOST. In a decisive move on Monday, protesting employees barred the newly appointed NIPOST CEO, Tola Odeyemi, from entering the premises, firmly asserting that her appointment did not align with their preferences.

The workers, vocal in their support for Adepoju, voiced their discontent through chants and held up placards to make their stance clear.
