Nollywood mourns the passing of veteran actress Cynthia Okereke

Nollywood, Nigeria’s esteemed movie industry, is once again plunged into mourning as veteran actress Cynthia Okereke has tragically passed away.

The devastating news of her death was shared by her colleague, Joseph Okechukwu, who took to his verified Twitter handle on Wednesday to announce the heartbreaking loss.

Alongside a photo of the late actress, Okechukwu wrote, “REST IN PEACE, Nwanyi oma. I am shattered beyond words. It is incredibly tough for me to comprehend that just last night, you went to be with the Lord, especially when I was about to pay for your flight ticket to come and finish what we started.”

Okechukwu continued, paying tribute to Okereke as a remarkable individual, saying, “For over 20 years that I have known you, you have always been an amazing, decent, and lovely soul to be around. I never could have imagined that you would depart so suddenly and unexpectedly. Words fail me.”

The passing of Cynthia Okereke further adds to the list of recent losses that the movie industry has endured.

Notable figures such as Saint Obi, Don Brymo, Murphy Afolabi, Femi Ogunrobi (Papa Ajasco), and Chikezie Uwazie are among those who have sadly left us in recent times.

The Nigerian film industry and fans alike are deeply saddened by the loss of Cynthia Okereke, a talented actress whose contributions will forever be remembered. May her gentle soul rest in eternal peace until we meet again.
