Northern youth forum endorses Betara for speakership

The North East Youth Traders Round Table Business Forum has officially endorsed the candidacy of Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara for the 10th Speakership of the national assembly.

According to a letter written by the chairman of the forum, Sani Adamu Sani, the decision was reached after a thorough consultation and screening process, considering his qualities, commitment, determination, courage, and genuine interest in aspiring for this position.

The forum said among all the candidates, they have voted for the best choice, which is Hon. Mukhtar Betara.

“Hon. Mukhtar Betara is a Nigerian from Borno State, specifically Biu local government. He is a professional accountant, administrator, and successful businessperson. With his experience as a lawmaker, he was first elected to the House of Representatives (Green Chamber) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in 2007, representing the Biu/Bayo/Shani and Kwaya Kusar Federal Constituency of Borno State in the North-eastern region of Nigeria.

“In the current 9th Assembly, he serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on Appropriation, a position he has held since the first session on 11 June 2019. This marks his fourth term as a member of the House of Representatives and signifies the beginning of a new era in the national assembly with the experienced leadership of Hon. Betara as the next speaker of the 10th Assembly in June 2023.

“Hon. Betara’s track record, maturity, exposure, leadership qualities, and statesmanship in coordinating the national assembly and federal government are commendable. He has achieved success in timely budget approval, strengthened the banking sector and deposit security, addressed economic and budgetary matters, reformed the customs service, and facilitated the digitization of systems.

“He has also made recommendations to empower and support the activities of the army in countering the rising insurgency in the Northern region of Nigeria, improved the immigration system through e-activities and passport control to curb illegal immigration, and advocated for the reformation of the correctional service.

“Furthermore, he has played an active role in actualising new policies during President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure over the past eight years as a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Hon. Betara works tirelessly to ensure the success of his party by providing a secure environment and support to enhance business activities in the North East and Nigeria as a whole.

“We urge all the citizens of Nigeria to rally behind the candidacy of Hon. Mukhtar Betara as the 10th Speaker of the National Assembly House of Representatives. This support will undoubtedly benefit the 170 million youths and the 135 million business cycle in our great nation. The entire youth of North East Nigeria fully endorses Hon. Betara’s candidacy, recognising his impressive track record and exceptional qualities for this position.

“We stand united in our support and prayers for his success in securing the speakership of the 10th assembly. We call on all members of the House of Representatives, as well as the leadership of the All Progressives Congress, to consider and endorse Hon. Betara as the most deserving candidate for this role due to his loyalty, commitment, sacrifice, and perseverance, which have contributed significantly to his success in the national assembly and offer a renewed sense of hope.

“We extend our congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR and Vice President Sen. Kashim Shettima GCON on their swearing-in and assumption of duty. We urge all our citizens and societal groups to join us in making this dream a reality.
