NP’s Family Dynamics with Eesher: I am heartbroken but wiser
In this episode of NP’s Family Dynamics with Eesher, a lady opens up about her encounter with one of Abuja’s so-called ‘Big Boys’ — a story that’s as eye-opening as it is unforgettable. Hopefully, many will learn from her experience.
Dear Sis Eesher,
I never thought I’d be the one sending in a story like this, but I guess life has a way of teaching us lessons we didn’t know we needed.
I met him at a popular lounge in Abuja. Everything about him screamed wealth — Gucci slides, Dior shades, and a sleek Benz parked outside with “BIG DADDY” boldly written on the plate. He was buying drinks like he owned the bar. Girls were gravitating towards him, but for some reason, he kept looking only at me.
He said his name was Tony. That he just landed from London. The accent? Smooth, foreign, convincing. That same night, he took me to Transcorp Hilton. Not just any room — the Presidential Suite. Champagne flowed. Money flew. He sprayed ₦200,000 on me and said, “You’re too pretty to not be appreciated.”

Sis, I was falling. Hard. I told my girls, “This one is different. I think I’ve found the one.”
Three days of bliss later, I decided to surprise him — unannounced.
I walked into the Hilton and asked the receptionist to ring the suite. She looked confused. As I turned to figure things out… There he was. In a black-and-white uniform. Serving pepper soup. He is a waiter.
I stood frozen as he tried to explain it away — said it was all a social experiment. He “owned the hotel” and was only trying to understand how the staff operated.
I wanted to scream, cry, and laugh all at once. The Benz was borrowed. The suite? A favour from his friend at the front desk. The ₦200k? A POS woman loaned him. I walked away and never looked back. But sometimes, I still miss the version of him I thought was real.
My lesson?
Not all Gucci is original.
Not every Benz is owned.
And not every “big boy” is really big.
I am heartbroken but wiser.
