NSCDC operatives arrest two suspected vandals in Jigawa state polytechnic

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Jigawa State Command, has apprehended two suspects for separate acts of vandalism within the premises of Jigawa State Polytechnic, Dutse.

This was contained in a statement by ASC Badruddeen Tijjani Mahmud Public Relations Officer NSCDC Jigawa State Command.

He said on Tuesday, 22nd July 2025, at about 1140hrs, NSCDC operatives arrested one Abubakar Muhammad “M”, 22 years old, a student of Jigawa State Polytechnic and resident of Zai area in Dutse metropolis.

He also said the suspect was apprehended for allegedly vandalizing eight (8) TETFund-donated ceiling fans in several classrooms of the institution.

”During preliminary investigation, Abubakar confessed to removing the fans and claimed to have sold the electric motors to one Yahya Isma’il “M”, aged 20, a scrap buyer residing in Bokkoto area of Dutse, operating around Dutse Central Mosque. However, Yahya Isma’il, when invited for questioning, denied any involvement or knowledge of the transaction.”

The PRO similarly said on Wednesday, 23rd July 2025, at exactly 0900hrs, another suspect, Fahad Nasir “M”, also 22 years old and a resident of Unguwa Dagari in Zai area of Dutse, was arrested by NSCDC personnel for the suspected vandalization of aluminum roofing sheets covering several classrooms within the same institution.

He noted that both suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue. The NSCDC Jigawa State Command reiterates its zero tolerance for acts of vandalism and warns that anyone found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.

He maintained that the State Commandant urges the public, especially residents of Dutse metropolis, to remain vigilant and support security agencies with credible information that will aid in the protection of public property and ensure the safety of our educational institutions.
