National Union of Yobe State Law Students (NUYOLAWS), is a students’ body that was established and registered under the sponsorship of the Youth Department of the Ministry of Youths, Sports, Social and Community Development of Yobe State.

Unlike many other students’ unions, NUYOLAWS’ primary target is the public. It is a platform for legal reform and access to justice. The union advocates and preaches the gospel of good governance and social justice in Yobe State.

Part of the obligation imposed on the members is engaging in street lawyering to enable the public, especially the less privileged, know their legal and civil rights.

Moreover, the union brings together all Yobe State Law students within and outside Nigeria in order to create strong brotherhood, unity and also, a means of posing critical legal issues that will edify the legal knowledge of the members. The union, as a way of improving and encouraging its members, has award section, certificates,
seminars and webinars.

In the same vein, the Union has within its self a boulevard of hopes and brighter feature for Yobe state law students, all things being equal. Every now and then, the eternal target is to produce resourceful law student and creme de la crème in the society.

It’s a general sociological undisputed acceptability that, No goal is achieved without droplets of sweat. The establishment of the union experienced the difficulty of monumental magnitude. But through consultations, precious pieces of advice were acquired from some legal icons that are currently yielding positive result.

One of them is Dr Abubakar Bukar Kagu, the Executive Secretary of Scholarship Board, Yobe State. Aside from his glittering résumé and antecedent, He is a man whose love for humanitarian services has reached an apogee. He remains an icon of hope and the reason why a student should stand doggedly firm in their academic pursuit.

Barrister Lukman Usman Nuhu, the Executive Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association, Yobe State Chapter, has played a pivotal role in breathing life into the union. He is best described as the erudite personification of humility and overall intelligent. He represents not only the interests of the lawyers but also the general public.

As part of the effort to work assiduously and take the Union to a state of sublimity; The new interim executive officers have been carefully nominated based on meritorious bases.

The interim executive officers, pending when the formal election is conducted, will steer the union in consonance with the aims and objectives as spelt out categorically in their corpus juris.
