Mata Sune Gida Foundation empowers orphans ahead of Sallah in YobeThe Mata Sune Gida Women Initiative Foundation has distributed clothing and cash support to 150 orphaned children in Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State, as part of efforts to enable them celebrate the Sallah festivities with dignity and joy.
The outreach, held on Saturday, was aimed at supporting vulnerable children and ensuring their inclusion in the festive celebrations.Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer and Executive Director of the foundation, Hajiya Aisha Ali Nafada, stressed the importance of caring for orphans, particularly during festive periods.
She called on well-meaning individuals and community members to partner with the organisation in identifying and supporting more vulnerable children.She also revealed that the foundation is planning additional programmes targeted at improving the welfare of orphans in the area.In her remarks, Queen Amina Muhammad Abali commended the initiative, describing it as a timely intervention that would bring relief and happiness to the beneficiaries.
She urged the foundation to sustain its humanitarian efforts.Also speaking, the Community Development Officer of Potiskum LGA, Malama Talatu Maina Gimba, applauded the organisers for their dedication to supporting vulnerable groups, noting that such initiatives contribute significantly to community development.
Some of the beneficiaries, including Sadiya Ibrahim and Khalil Ibrahim, expressed appreciation for the gesture, pledging to make good use of the support to enhance their Sallah celebrations.The initiative highlights the growing role of community-based organisations in providing social support and reflects the spirit of compassion and solidarity during the festive season.
