Tinubu lands in Jos to mourn victims of Plateau killings
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on a condolence visit following last Sunday’s deadly attacks in the Angwan Rukuba area that claimed at least 27 lives.
The President was received on arrival by Plateau State Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, alongside top government officials and political leaders, including APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda.
Tinubu had earlier condemned the Jos killings, as well as a separate attack in Kahir village in Kaduna State, where wedding guests were reportedly killed and others abducted.
In a statement issued through his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, the President described the incidents as “barbaric and cowardly,” vowing that those responsible would be brought to justice.
“Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill defenceless citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village is a heartless coward,” Tinubu had stated.
While denouncing the attacks, the President also commended Governor Mutfwang for his response in managing the situation and directed security agencies to intensify efforts to track down the perpetrators.
He further cautioned sections of the media against framing the violence along religious lines, warning that such narratives could inflame tensions and worsen the crisis.
