Tinubu cancels Ogun visit, heads to Jos to Mourn Plateau attack victims
President Bola Tinubu has postponed his scheduled trip to Ogun State and will instead visit Jos on Thursday to commiserate with victims of recent deadly attacks.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga said the president’s visit is aimed at sympathising with the Plateau State government and families affected by the violence in Angwan Rukuba, Jos North Local Government Area.
Tinubu had initially planned to travel to Iperu in Ogun State to inaugurate operations at the Gateway International Cargo Airport, but the visit has now been rescheduled.
According to the statement, after his stop in Jos, the president will proceed to Lagos to observe the Good Friday holiday.
He is, however, expected to return to Ogun State on Saturday, April 4, to commission the cargo airport project, alongside two commercial aircraft aimed at boosting import and export activities.
Tinubu will also inaugurate the Federal Operations Unit of the Nigeria Customs Service and other infrastructure projects in Lagos, including the Ojota/Opebi Link Bridge, the Lagos State Geographic Information System building, and a multi-agency complex.
The president is further scheduled to visit Bayelsa State on April 10 to commission projects executed by Governor Duoye Diri.
Earlier, Tinubu met with Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, at the State House, where he received a briefing on the recent attack that left several residents dead and heightened tensions in the area.
