VC emphasises entrepreneurship, practical training as YSU matriculates 2,240 students

Yobe State University, Damaturu, has matriculated 2,240 students at its 18th Matriculation Ceremony for the 2025/2026 academic session.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammed Bashir Yahaya, emphasised the institution’s focus on strengthening entrepreneurship and practical training to equip graduates for self-employment.
The Registrar, Dr Isah Audu Dallari, described the ceremony as the beginning of the students’ academic journey, urging them to make the most of their time at YSU.
The Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Sani Isah, encouraged the freshmen to balance academic pursuits with co-curricular activities.
A breakdown of the matriculated students shows:
- College of Medical Science: 465
- Agriculture: 53
- Arts: 74
- Education: 121
- Law: 67
- Sciences: 935
- Social and Management Science: 525
