NMA debunks fake stage 4 Cancer result circulated by influencer Blessing CEO
The Delta State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has dismissed as false a medical report circulating online, allegedly shared by social media influencer Blessing Okoro, claiming she is battling Stage 4 cancer.
In a joint statement signed by the state chairman, Dr. Israel I. Adaigho, and secretary, Dr. Usamah E. Hannah, the association clarified that the document in question was manipulated and did not originate from the diagnostic facility cited.
According to the NMA, the report—purportedly issued by Xinus Medical Diagnostics and signed by consultant pathologist Dr. O. A. Odigwe—was fabricated. The association emphasized that the medical centre is based in Asaba, Delta State, and not Enugu as indicated in the viral document.
Further findings revealed that while the facility conducted a legitimate test in May 2025, it was for a different individual, Deborah Mbara, who had been referred by a private hospital in Asaba. The authentic results, released on May 9, 2025, were duly sent to the patient’s physician and a legal firm, Allen Juris Law.
The NMA urged the public to be cautious when responding to medical claims circulating on social media, particularly those soliciting financial assistance. It also called on relevant authorities to investigate the misuse of medical records and ensure accountability, reiterating its commitment to upholding professional standards and protecting the public from misinformation.
