Rainstorm wrecks Kugbo terminal, triggers massive traffic chaos on Nyanya–Keffi road
A heavy downpour on Tuesday caused a major traffic gridlock along the Nyanya–Keffi Expressway in Abuja after severe damage was recorded at the Kugbo Bus Terminal.
The rainfall affected parts of the newly built terminal, with sections of the roof torn off and debris spilling onto the highway, obstructing vehicular movement.
The situation led to heavy congestion along the busy route linking the Federal Capital Territory to neighbouring Nasarawa State, leaving many commuters stranded for hours.
Eyewitnesses said some vehicles were impacted by the debris, while residents and road users joined efforts to clear the road in a bid to restore traffic flow.
The worst-hit area is around the Abuja Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre operated by the Directorate of Road Traffic Services (VIO).
As of Tuesday evening, traffic was still moving slowly, with motorists advised to exercise caution when approaching the affected corridor.
