The Presidential Committee on the North East Initiative ( PCNI), has donated valuable relief materials to returnees and communities affected by the Boko Haram insurgency in Adamawa.
Retired Lt.-Gen. Theophilus Danjuma, the chairman of the committee, presented the items to Gov. Muhammadu Bindow in Yola.
Danjuma, who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Tijjani Tumsah, said that the gesture was part of President Muhammadu Buhari’s plan for national strategic framework guiding all interventions in the region.
He said the donation was not the first of its kind and would not be the last, adding that the effort was meant to cushion the suffering being experienced by the affected returnees.
“The donation is part of the PCNI intervention sponsored by the presidency to bring succour to returnees and communities affected by the Boko Haram insurgency in the state.
“It is also to support the communities that are still hosting Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs), either in camps or in their respective homes,” Danjuma said.
He pleaded that the relief materials should reach those it was meant for and warned that anybody or group of persons found diverting the materials would face the full wrath of the government.
Bindow, who was also represented by his deputy, Mr Martins Babale, in his response, thanked the presidential committee for the gesture and promised that the relief materials would reach those it was meant for.
