PDP opens crucial 2025 National Convention
Story by Okafor Vivian
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says more than 3,000 delegates including governors, members of the National Executive Committee, Board of Trustees members and other key stakeholders from all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory have converged on Ibadan for its national convention.
The two day event, scheduled for November 15–16, will climax with the election of a new National Working Committee, including a National Chairman, who will steer the party toward the 2027 general elections. This was disclosed in a statement issued by Babangida Umar on the party’s official X handle on Saturday.

The convention follows months of postponements, internal disputes and attempts by some factions to draw INEC and the courts into halting the exercise.
Describing Ibadan as a “fitting host city,” the PDP highlighted the city’s upgraded infrastructure and modern facilities, likening the atmosphere to its historic 1998 Jos convention.
More updates are expected as the convention progresses.
