PDP suspends Anyanwu, other Wike loyalists amid deepening internal crisis

The internal rift within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) widened on Saturday as the party’s National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and several top officials believed to be allies of Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike, were suspended from office.
The decision followed a marathon session of the National Working Committee (NWC) at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja. National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, disclosed the development in a statement issued after the meeting.
Also suspended were the National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade (SAN); National Organizing Secretary, Umar Bature; and the Deputy National Legal Adviser, all reportedly aligned with Wike’s political camp.

Sources revealed that the suspended officials had been absent from key party activities in recent weeks. They have been placed on a one-month suspension and referred to the PDP Disciplinary Committee for further action.
The latest development comes just a day after a high court in Abuja halted the party’s national convention scheduled for November 15 and 16 in Ibadan, Oyo State. While the PDP has vowed to challenge the ruling, it insists preparations for the convention will continue.

Growing internal disputes and leadership disagreements have been cited as major factors behind the legal action challenging the upcoming convention, marking yet another escalation in the party’s ongoing power struggle.
