PEBEC commits to making business investments easier for Nigerians

The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council’s (PEBEC) ‘Business Made Easy’ has stated that it has successfully implemented over 140 reforms in the transformation of making trade, among other businesses more attractive and easier for medium and large scale entrepreneurs.

The DG, Dr Jumoke Oduwale while speaking at the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Forum at Ahmadu Bello Hall in Jigawa state Secretariat in Dutse, said PEBEC is continuing its tour of Nigeria’s six geo-political zones to engage with business owners in each state.

She said “This objective was anchored on the three pillars of “Listen, Implement and Track”, while collaborating more closely with the audience as stakeholders in delivering reforms that will transform Nigeria’s business landscape for better.

As part of efforts to improve the business environment in Nigeria, the council came to Jigawa in a continued celebration of enterprise on L.I.T. Sub-national Tour. Anchored on the acronym “L.I.T” which means Listen, Implement, Track. The tour has covered Imo State (South-East), Ekiti State (South-West), Akwa Ibom (South-South), Kwara State (North-Central), FCT (North- Central) and soon the North-Western Nigeria.

According to her, many of the over 140 reforms successfully implemented by PEBEC since its establishment will be on exhibition, with MDAs on ground to offer real-time solutions to business problems.

Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, the Special Adviser to the President on the Ease of Doing Business informed stakeholders at the 3rd edition of the PEBEC awards event, that as part of PEBEC’s engagement process across the country, lituation tour is carried out to deepen the conversation on enabling the business environment.

PEBEC’s mandate is to make Nigeria a progressively better place for businesses to thrive by championing an enabled economy. In collaboration with the executive, legislature, judiciary and other regulatory partners, the council has significantly reduced the cost, time and number of procedures required to set up and carry-on business within the country.

Earlier in his speech, Governor Badaru Abubakar assured continuation of an enabling business opportunities with the availability of free business incentives such as water, power, effective security, provisioning land among others to prospective investors to invest in jigawa state.

He said “Apart from agric venture that we are largely supported, plans have reach an advance stage towards investing heavenly in solar energy assuring that very soon the realization of this set objectives will be a reality starting with the state Secretariat as a pilot scheme”.

In her remarks, the DG Invest Jigawa, Dr. Furare Jumare states jigawa state has comparative advantage at many levels that should be leveraged on to realise the Invest Jigawa vision of the state becoming Nigeria’s preferred investment destination.

“Our state is private-sector friendly, with a leadership that has the political will to, and indeed supports intending investors. This is evidenced by our 2nd position ranking in the current World Bank Ease of Doing Business Report.

“We also have the best road network in Nigeria, which has been validated by the current quality of road index, which ranks us 1st among the Nigeria states. Jigawa State is also one of the safest states in the north, with very little communal strife, restiveness, and comparatively very low levels of banditry and similar vices.

According to her, the major concern was to increase the visibility of Jigawa State, especially in terms of investment opportunities, in achieving mission trust in attracting major trade and investment ventures in different businesses of the community.

The forum was attended by large crowd of business partners of different local and international craft’s, among participants of Kano and Jigawa business community.
