The Plateau State Commissioner of Environment, Alhaji Yakubu Usman on Monday stated that the Plateau state government will resume it’s monthly Sanitation by May this year.

The honourable commissioner made this disclosure in an interview with newsmen on Monday in Jos, he said the exercise was earlier suspended because of security challenges in the state.

He also assured that a memo had been written on the effect to resuscitate the normal monthly Sanitation.

Alhaji Yakubu Usman said the state government would engage in a public-private partnership for the smooth take-off and sustenance of the exercise.

The honourable commissioner stressed that Special Sanitation days for markets were halted because the exercise was “abused” as money was being collected indiscriminately from traders.

He said that private waste operators would be engaged to clear dumps in markets, hospitals and some hotels to ensure effective service delivery.
