Police arraign 11 suspects over killing of ARISE TV Journalist, security guard

The police have arraigned 11 suspects in connection with the murder of an ARISE TV journalist and a security guard, bringing a major development in the ongoing investigation into the killing.

The suspects were presented before a court on charges bordering on conspiracy and murder. Police prosecutors told the court that the accused allegedly took part in the attack that led to the deaths of the journalist and the security guard.

According to police sources, the incident occurred during an assault that sparked outrage within the media community and the general public. Following weeks of investigation, security agencies arrested the suspects in different locations and recovered items believed to be linked to the crime.

At the arraignment, the prosecution requested that the suspects be remanded in custody pending the conclusion of investigations and advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

The court subsequently ordered that the suspects be remanded and adjourned the case to a later date for further proceedings.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists and other media rights groups have continued to demand justice, calling on authorities to ensure a thorough prosecution of all those involved in the killings.
