Police arrest housewife for maltreating domestic staff

The Sokoto State Police Command has commenced investigations into the alleged physical abuse of a domestic staff, Bashariyya Usman, reportedly at the hands of her employer, Fauziya Rabo.

DSP Ahmad Rufai, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists on Wednesday.

It stated that the incident, which has drawn significant public attention and concern, was brought to the notice of the command following an official petition.

“Upon receipt of the complaint, swift action was taken, and the suspect, Fauziya Rabo, is currently in police custody,” it stated.

The police further affirmed that they strongly condemned any form of domestic abuse or violence and assured the public that a thorough and impartial investigation is underway.

“Justice will be pursued in accordance with the law, and all parties involved will be treated fairly, without bias or prejudice.

“We urge members of the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information that may hinder the investigation or cause unnecessary panic.”

The spokesman added that the police remained committed to transparency and would continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses.

“The Commissioner of Police, Sokoto State Command, CP Ahmed Musa, psc, reiterates the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to the protection of human rights and the enforcement of laws that ensure the safety and dignity of all residents, regardless of status or background.”
