The Niger State Police Command has arrested one of the seven armed robbery suspects involved in the murder of one Ayuba Ibrahim, 19, formerly of Boyi village in Gurara Local Government Area of the state.

The Police, who made this known in Minna on Monday, said the suspect, Habibu Suleiman, 23, of Dawaki town hall area of Suleja, Abuja, was trailed and arrested by a team of policemen attached to the Gawu-Babangida Division.

It was learnt that on 2 May 2020, the Police received information that armed robbers numbering seven invaded Boyi community in Gurara, robbed residents of their valuables and shot Ibrahim dead.

The suspect, who confessed to the crime, mentioned six accomplices who are now at large.

Suleiman promised to take the operatives to the houses of his members in Tafa and Kubwa areas of Federal Capital Territory.

“I never knew the police will get at me after killing the victim. I didn’t know that the victim will die of the gunshot, honestly. It wasn’t my intention to kill him; I thought he will only sustain an injury,” Suleiman told spokesmen.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the development, said the police were trailing the fleeing suspects, adding that those arrested would be charged to court after investigation.
