Police arrest notorious bandit linked to killings of security personnel

Story by Okafor Vivian

The Benue State Police Command has arrested a suspected notorious bandit, Yongu Justine Makwagh, believed to be responsible for multiple deadly attacks on security operatives in the state.

Makwagh, who had long been on the police wanted list, was apprehended on Friday at about 8:00 p.m. at Balcony Park in Makurdi. The arrest followed a coordinated operation led by the Divisional Police Officer of Daudu with support from operatives of the Intelligence Response Team (IRT).

According to the police, the suspect is linked to several violent incidents, particularly within the Sankera axis. These include the murder of two Safer Highway Police personnel in Yelwata and the killing of two officers from the Department of Operations (DOPS) in Daudu, during which firearms were carted away.
