Police in Anambra raid seccessionist group, arrest 4 suspects
The Anambra Police Command recently took decisive action against a secessionist group in a successful raid that led to the arrest of four suspects in the state.
This operation was carried out following credible intelligence reports received by the command.
SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the Command’s spokesperson, confirmed the development in a statement released in Awka on Tuesday.
According to Ikenga, a joint security force, led by the police, intercepted four members of the military wing associated with the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and the Eastern Security Network (ESN) at Ufuma, Orumba North Local Government Area.
The arrested ESN operatives were believed to be plotting attacks on security personnel and innocent citizens, as per the information received by the authorities.

One of the suspects, Maduabuchi Nwafor, also known as Omenkpo, aged 32 and a resident of Ufuma, was identified as playing a key role within the group. Nwafor was known for his involvement in preparing charms for the group, organising initiation ceremonies at his shrine, and providing a meeting place for the criminals.
Another suspect, whose name was not disclosed but is cooperating with the authorities, admitted to being one of the armed individuals dispatched by the group to enforce the unlawful sit-at-home order on May 30.
The Commissioner of Police in Anambra, Mr. Nnaghe Itam, has initiated investigations to locate the hiding spots of the insurgents within the state.
Itam reassured the public of the Police Command’s commitment to serving them diligently and ensuring the safety of informants who provide critical information to maintain peace and security in the region.
