Protest: I’m yet to get letter for usage of eagle square — Wike
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has stated that his office has not received any official request for the use of Eagle Square for the upcoming protest scheduled to start on August 1.
Wike made this announcement on Saturday during a town hall meeting with key stakeholders in the FCT. The protest, organized under the hashtag #EndBadGovernance, aims to address various grievances related to governance.
During the meeting, Wike emphasized that no formal letter has been submitted to his office regarding the use of Eagle Square for the demonstration. He urged those organising the protest to follow the proper procedures and communicate through official channels rather than relying solely on social media to make their requests.
The FCT minister had previously warned against the protest, stating that the FCT is not available for such activities. He advised residents to avoid participating in the planned demonstration and suggested that they seek alternative ways to address their concerns.

The town hall meeting was attended by a range of stakeholders, including the FCT Minister (State) Mariya Mahmoud, area council chairmen, traditional rulers, religious leaders, political party representatives, and members of women and youth groups.
The purpose of the meeting was to establish a communication channel between the FCT administration and residents to discuss their issues with current leadership and explore potential solutions.
