Following the release of the abducted Zamfara Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe school girls, many of the girls have begun to narrate their bad experience at the hands of their kidnappers.
One of the victims, Hafsat Anka, disclosed that their abductors threatened to kill, fry and eat them if they misbehaved.
Shortly after regaining freedom, Hafsat told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that they trekked over a long distance from the school, and had a stopover for some hours before they reached their destination.

The student who said she would continue her studies as a day student revealed that the bandits wore military uniforms and claimed they defeated the security officials by invading the school.
“There was no clean water or good food, and we felt we had already spent years even though it was our first day and the bandits kept firing into the air to scare us.
“They were very young boys with one elder they called Kasalle or Yaya who gave them instructions, and he was the one that stopped them from touching any of us,” Hafsat added.
The SStwo student who spoke in tears said they saw women and children and the father of one of their school mates who had been in the den for three months.
She said they were never allowed to pray and were fed sandy rice.
“We saw other people, including women and children and father of one of our school mates who had been in the den for three months.
“They walked us on foot where some of us got dislocated on their foot, they would pray as Muslims but never allowed us to pray and they fed us with rice in which they put sand after cooking,” Hafsat narrated.
Several girls who spoke with newsmen said their abductors professed love to them and promised to contact them over the phone to find out if they had accepted the marriage proposal.
One student, Hassatu Umar Anka, said their abductors advised them to abandon school so they could get married.
“When we were about to be released, some of them came and starting pointing at us and saying, ‘We love some of you and we want to marry you if you would accept our proposal’. You shouldn’t be wasting your time schooling,” she said.
She said the armed men are very afraid of the military and whenever fighter jets hovered in the air, they sought cover.
“They nicknamed the fighter jet “Shaho” (hawk) and if they see one, they would ask us to hide under caves or trees. It really frightens them,” she added.
Meanwhile, the Zamfara State Governor, Bello Matawalle, has said that officials of the state government scaled several hurdles to secure the release of the kidnapped students of Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe.
The governor also described the process of securing the kidnapped schoolgirls as “exhausting”, noting that he was “very devastated” over the incident.
Matawalle explained that efforts would be made to convince bandits to accept a peace deal, saying, “We want to bring everybody on board.”
The governor, who received the girls at about 5 am on Tuesday in Gusau, said the girls were returned safely without paying any ransom.
“This is the result of our peace effort and putting to shame all those saying there is no security in this country.
“We have been in discussion since Friday with the abductors and reached an agreement on Monday by 4 pm that the girls were released.”
