Popular Nigerian writer, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie loses mother

Mrs Grace Ifeoma Adichie (nee Odigwe), the mother of renowned writer Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, is dead. 

Mrs Adichie aged 78, died on Monday, March 1, 2021, in Awka, Anambra State.

A family spokesperson said: “It was very sudden and we are devastated.”

Her husband, a renowned Professor of Statistics, James Adichie, died last June at 88.

Mrs Adichie is survived by six children: Ijeoma, Uchenna, Chuks, Okechukwu, Chimamanda and Kenechukwu as well as nine grandchildren, in-laws and many relatives.

The family announced that funeral arrangements will be announced in due course.
