Remi Tinubu To Nigerians: My husband inherited a damaged country, he’s not a magician

In a recent statement, Nigeria’s First Lady, Remi Tinubu, defended her husband, President Bola Tinubu, and addressed the challenges he faces in fixing a country that has long suffered from damage and neglect.

Mrs. Tinubu emphasized that her husband is not a magician who can instantly solve all of Nigeria’s problems.

“We have inherited issues that have been accumulating for many years,” Mrs. Tinubu expressed. “Our aim is not to assign blame to any particular administration but to diligently repair what has been damaged. My husband is not a magician; he will work tirelessly, and I am hopeful that peace and progress will prevail in our nation. The best is yet to come.”

Mrs. Tinubu continued by stating that Nigeria is entering an era of abundance, and it is necessary for Nigerians to look beyond their current hardships and embrace hope for a brighter future.

During an interdenominational church service held in commemoration of Nigeria’s 63rd Independence Anniversary, Mrs. Tinubu emphasized the importance of good governance and encouraged people to follow the example of Jesus Christ, embodying values such as love, joy, peace, forgiveness, and more.

President Tinubu assumed office on May 29, succeeding his predecessor, Muhammadu Buhari, and has been vocal about the challenges he inherited. He has vowed to expose corruption in institutions like the Central Bank of Nigeria and address the mounting debt crisis that is hindering the country’s progress.

While some of President Tinubu’s policies, such as the removal of petrol subsidies and the floating of the naira, have been applauded by economic experts, they have also led to increased petrol prices and inflation.

Recognizing the effects these policies have had on the Nigerian people, President Tinubu has announced several interventions to alleviate the economic hardships faced by citizens.

As the Tinubu administration works towards rebuilding Nigeria, Mrs. Tinubu urges patience, unity, and a collective effort from all Nigerians in order to navigate the journey towards a prosperous and peaceful nation.
