Russia takes down 3 Ukrainian missiles in Southern region
The Russian government says it has taken down three missiles believed to have been fired by Ukraine over the southern border region of Belgorod.
According to Vyacheslav Gladkov, Belgorod governor, the missiles were brought down by the air defence system.

“Three missiles were shot down by the air defence system over Belgorod and the Belgorodsky district. Debris hit Belgorod’s residential sector. There is damage,” Gladkov said in a statement late Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Belgorod Mayor, Valentin Demidov, said nine homes and four apartment buildings had been damaged by debris but added that no one had been hurt, as reported by AFP.
Gladkov has regularly accused Ukrainian forces of shelling his border region and in January said more than two dozen residents had been killed since the start of the Kremlin’s military intervention in Ukraine on February 24 last year.
On Monday, he said that Russian air defences had downed four missiles, but that no one was hurt.
The conflict in Ukraine occasionally spills over into Russia, including earlier this month when Moscow said it was forced to respond when a group of Ukrainian saboteurs breached the frontier of the southern Bryansk region.
