“Saved Their Honour”: Man kills mother, 4 sisters
A 24-year-old man accused of murdering his mother and four sisters at a hotel in Lucknow has claimed in a chilling video that he committed the killings to prevent his “sisters from being sold.”
The video surfaced hours after the horrific crime, in which the accused, Arshad, alleged that neighbours and a land mafia from their hometown of Budaun had captured their house and were planning to traffic his sisters.
In the video, Arshad confessed to killing his mother and three sisters, adding that the fourth was critically injured and on the verge of death. He showed the victims’ bodies, stating he choked them and slit their wrists, with the assistance of his father.
The victims were identified as Asma (his mother), his sisters Alia (9), Alshia (19), Aksa (16), and Rahmeen (18).
“Our family took this step due to harassment by people in our neighbourhood,” Arshad stated in the video. “I killed my mother and sisters. When the police receive this video, they must understand the locals are to blame.

They harassed us and captured our house. Despite raising our voices, no one listened. For 15 days, we have been sleeping on the footpath, wandering in the cold. They took our house, but we still have the documents.”
Arshad, arrested at the crime scene, claimed the family had been forced to consider converting their religion to escape the harassment. He appealed to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for justice and named individuals he accused of being complicit, including Ranu, Aftab, Aleem Khan, Salim, Arif, Ahmad, and Azhar.
“They are land mafia and traffickers,” he alleged. “They planned to frame my father and me in false cases and sell my sisters. I was left with no choice but to kill my sisters to protect their honour.”
Arshad described his intentions to take his own life, adding, “I may not be alive till morning.” He further accused local authorities of labelling his family as Bangladeshis despite their documented roots in Budaun since 1947.
He pleaded for justice from Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, requesting stringent punishment for those he held responsible.
“They captured half our plot and wanted to seize the rest. Let a temple be built on our land, and donate our belongings to an orphanage so that our souls may find peace,” Arshad said.
“I killed them with my father. What choice did I have? Should I have let them be sold in Hyderabad? Ensure they get justice. They struggled so much today. We have saved their honour,” he added, addressing the Chief Minister.
NDTV could not independently verify the authenticity of the video.
Earlier, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Lucknow), Raveena Tyagi, stated that the murders were committed at Hotel Sharanjit. “The accused, identified as Arshad (24), allegedly killed five members of his own family. Following the gruesome act, the local police promptly caught the accused from the crime scene,” she said.
Forensic teams have collected samples from the crime scene as investigations continue.
