Police investigate death of 27-year-old woman at lover’s residence in Abuja

The Nigeria Police Force has launched an investigation into the death of a 27 year old woman, identified as Blessing Nkiru Okafor, who reportedly collapsed and died while eating at her boyfriend’s residence in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

According to police sources, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening at the apartment of her boyfriend, Emmanuel Adewale, located in the Gwarinpa area of the city. Blessing was said to be having a meal when she suddenly began to gasp for breath and collapsed.

Neighbours alerted emergency responders, and she was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors confirmed her death shortly after arrival.

The FCT Police Command, through its spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh, confirmed the incident, stating that detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have commenced a full probe to determine the exact cause of death.

“The deceased’s body has been deposited at the mortuary for an autopsy, while statements have been obtained from relevant persons, including the boyfriend,” the police said.

SP Adeh added that preliminary findings suggest no visible signs of violence, but emphasized that the autopsy results would be crucial in establishing whether the death was caused by choking, poisoning, a medical condition, or any other factor.

The police assured the public that the investigation would be thorough and transparent, urging residents to remain calm and avoid speculation while forensic and medical examinations are ongoing.

Family members of the deceased have been notified, as authorities continue efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
