Security operatives arrest Boko Haram collaborator while voting in Borno

Troops of the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in conjunction with local vigilantes have arrested a suspected Boko Haram collaborator, Umar Goni, in Monguno Local Government Area of Borno State.

The security personnel apprehended the suspect at the Federal Government Girls College Monguno while trying to cast his vote during the Saturday, March 18 Governorship and State Assembly Elections.

Chief Military Public Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Kamarudeen Adegoke, disclosed the arrest in a statement on Thursday, March 23, 2023.

The statement said, “Troops of Sector 3 MNJTF (Nigeria) in conjunction with local vigilantes (Civilian JTF) arrested a suspect at Federal Government Girls College Monguno, while trying to cast his vote during the Saturday, March 18 Governorship and State Assembly Elections.

“The collaborator named Umar Goni, who is an indigene of Kukawa was arrested while trying to cast his vote in the recently held elections in Nigeria.

“During the preliminary investigation, he confessed to being an errand boy for the terrorists in Kukawa,” Adegoke stated.

Adegoke revealed that a detailed investigation has commenced.
