Sen Binos distributes food items to vulnerable communities in Adamawa
Senator Binos Dauda Yaroe has distributed 4,856 bags of rice, 2,000 bags of sugar, 2,000 bags of spaghetti, and 246 gallons of groundnut oil to vulnerable groups across the nine Local Government Areas of Adamawa Southern Senatorial District.
The gesture is to ease the economic hardship faced by rural communities during Ramadan.
Each ward within the LGAs received 50 bags of rice to be shared among the aged, the less privileged, and other vulnerable individuals, regardless of political or tribal affiliations. To facilitate smooth distribution, the sum of ₦2.4 million was allocated for transportation and logistics, ensuring that coordinators could efficiently deliver the items to beneficiaries.
Speaking through his representative, Hon. Adiyel Kurga, Senator Binos emphasized the importance of providing relief at the midpoint of Ramadan when many households begin to experience food shortages. He noted that people across the country are struggling with the high cost of living, especially during fasting, and that the intervention is aimed at reducing hardship and ensuring that those in need have access to food.

To guarantee a fair and transparent distribution process, the senator put in place a structured coordination system. Each LGA had three coordinators, with additional ward and unit coordinators ensuring that the palliatives reached grassroots beneficiaries. Hon. Yosi Isaiah Leru, Coordinator for Jada LGA, assured that the items were distributed equitably across all nine LGAs.
She explained that each LGA received palliatives based on the number of wards, adding that in Jada, which has 11 wards, they received 550 bags of rice. She expressed confidence that the measures put in place would ensure that the relief materials reach those who truly need them.
Mr. Robinson Raymond, Coordinator for Guyuk LGA, described the initiative as part of the senator’s commitment to improving the livelihoods of his constituents, particularly the less privileged and physically challenged.
He noted that this was not the first time Senator Binos had embarked on such a gesture and that all coordinators had been mandated to ensure transparency in the distribution process.
He assured that modalities had already been worked out to enable the seamless distribution of the items upon arrival at the various LGAs.
Haj. Maryamu Shelleng Isa, Coordinator for Shelleng LGA, commended the senator for prioritising transparency, stating that all coordinators had been entrusted with ensuring fairness in the distribution process.
She reassured beneficiaries that the relief materials would be shared as directed by the senator, adding that the timing of the intervention was ideal since many households had exhausted their initial Ramadan provisions.
To facilitate the transportation of the palliatives, funds were allocated to each LGA, with Guyuk, Shelleng, Lamurde, and Toungo receiving ₦500,000 each, Numan receiving ₦460,000, and Demsa and Jada receiving ₦420,000 and ₦400,000, respectively.
The initiative has been widely praised as a timely and much-needed intervention, providing essential food items to struggling households at a critical period of the Ramadan fast.
