In the chronicles of leadership and representation, few have left an indelible mark like Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi. With over 20 years of legislative experience, he has emerged as a dynamic force, championing the interests of Bauchi Central in the Senate. His ability to seamlessly navigate the complexities of governance and deliver impactful projects has redefined what effective representation means.
Starting with the ambitious 18.88 km Hardawa-Gwaram-Takari-Akuyam Road project, a cornerstone of Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration, Senator Ningi’s influence is evident. Having played a pivotal role as the Director General of the governor’s first-term election campaign, Ningi continues to be a driving force in transforming the aspirations of his constituents into tangible realities.
In less than two years as a senator, Senator Ningi has made notable strides in infrastructure, including the construction of three 10 km road projects: Tashar Tsamiya-Kafin Sule in Misau LGA, Danol Mangoro-Tauya in Darazo LGA, and Gada-Zakara Road in Ningi LGA. These roads, now near completion, are set to ease transportation challenges and enhance economic activities in the region.
The once-neglected Ningi-Yada Gungume Fuskar Mata Road, abandoned since the Shehu Shagari’s administration, has also been revived under his watch. Funds have been released, and contractors are now mobilised to site, offering rural communities renewed hope for connectivity.
Senator Ningi has shown exceptional dedication to improving healthcare in Bauchi Central. From free eye care treatments and surgeries for women with vesico-vaginal fistula to scanning services for pregnant women, his initiatives continue to touch lives. He has also facilitated the establishment of a College of Nursing and Medical Sciences at the National Obstetric Fistula Centre in Ningi, complementing his personal efforts to build hostels for students.
In the education sector, hundreds of students from underprivileged families across the six LGAs have benefited from his interventions, including JAMB registration support and scholarship programmes. These efforts ensure that talented youths have the opportunity to pursue higher education and compete globally.
To address food security and empower rural farmers, Sen. Ningi has trained his campaign coordinators and their deputies on rice and maize production, providing them with farm inputs and financial support. During the last farming season, over three truckloads of fertilizer were distributed to farmers, along with palliatives to mitigate the impact of subsidy removal.
With the drilling of 371 hand pumps and the installation of solar-powered boreholes and 306 streetlights across Bauchi Central, Senator Ningi is addressing critical water and energy needs in the region. These projects have significantly improved living conditions for thousands of households.
As part of his empowerment initiatives, Senator Ningi has distributed cars, motorcycles, and tricycles to youth and political supporters, along with financial support of ₦500,000 each. His job creation efforts have secured employment for young graduates in various federal agencies, helping to reduce unemployment and improve livelihoods.
Senator Ningi’s legislative contributions are equally commendable. Among his notable achievements is the sponsorship of a bill for the establishment of a Federal University of Agriculture in Darazo, aimed at bringing higher education closer to the grassroots. His thoughtful remarks during the Senate ministerial screening of Bauchi State’s nominees further highlighted his focus on national unity and collaboration devoid of political rivalry.
Known for his straightforward approach, Sen. Ningi has consistently spoken out against issues like budget padding, controversial tax reforms, and the imposition of sanctions on Niger Republic. His focus on transparency and national interest has earned him respect and recognition across political divides.
Senator Abdul Ahmed Ningi’s tenure is a testament to the impact of purposeful leadership. His commitment to his constituents and ability to deliver measurable results continue to set him apart as a true representative of the people.
