Septuagenarian arrested for helping kidnappers abduct villagers
A 70-year-old man, Malam Danlami, has been arrested by vigilante operatives known as Community Watch in Jigawa State for allegedly aiding kidnappers in the abduction of five women.
Danlami was apprehended in Dutsinma Local Government Area following intelligence reports linking him to criminal activities.
The suspect, who hails from Turare village, confessed to assisting a notorious bandit, Alhaji Kuda, in carrying out kidnappings.
He reportedly guided the criminals to the homes of their victims before they were taken into the forest.
“I called Alhaji Kuda and he sent his boys to come and kidnap five women, including a wife of a man identified as Engineer, two wives of a man called Ibrahim and his sister, and another woman,” Danlami said.
“When I identified persons to kidnap, I would call Alhaji Kuda. He would now send his boys to carry out the operations,” he added.

Danlami stated that he was not involved in ransom negotiations, saying, “The kidnappers didn’t discuss the ransom payment with me, so I am not aware of the amount requested to be paid.”
Danlami pleaded for forgiveness and vowed not to repeat his actions. “I will not do it again, and if I do, the law should take its course,” he said.
Meanwhile, SaharaReporters had reported how notorious bandits leader, Bello Turji vowed to launch attacks in response to the the arrest of his relatives.
Some bandits had abducted passengers and burnt their vehicle in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Although it is unclear if this development is related to the threats, the incident occurred at Kwanar Jalab village in Zungeru Ward, Shinkafi LGA.
