The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, has married Queen Zaynab, a former wife of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi.

The marriage became public after photos of the couple surfaced on social media and were shared by members of the Dajoh family, Akume’s extended family in Benue State. The images showed Queen Zaynab being warmly received into the family, sparking widespread public attention.

In a post accompanying the photos, the family welcomed Queen Zaynab, describing the union as a joyful development and extending goodwill messages to Nigerians during the festive season.

Queen Zaynab was previously married to the Ooni of Ife between 2016 and 2017, during which she held the title Olori Wuraola. Since the release of the images, the marriage has generated discussions across political, cultural, and social circles in the country.

Clarifying reports around the development, sources close to the SGF indicated that the marriage is not recent, contrary to speculations linking it to Christmas celebrations, but had taken place earlier.

Senator Akume, a former Governor of Benue State and former Minister, currently serves as SGF in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. The marriage has continued to attract public interest, particularly due to the high-profile status of both parties involved.
