The arrested individual, identified as Gambo Grema (also known as Gamboi), confessed to being part of a Boko Haram syndicate operating in the region.
His mission, he revealed, was to engage in kidnapping for ransom to fund the group’s terror activities and to establish a new cell in the state.

Additionally, Grema admitted that members of the Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) were also involved in the syndicate’s operations, having been deployed from the Timbuktu Triangle for various criminal activities.

Brig. Gen. Kingsley Uwa, Commander of the 6 Brigade, emphasised that such operations would continue as part of the army’s commitment to combat terrorism and maintain peace in the region.

Furthermore, Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, urged the public to support security efforts by providing valuable and timely information.
