Sultan Sa’ad appoints Ejeh of Dekina as Kogi healthcare focal person

His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III has approved the appointment of Ejeh Dekina, Alhaji Usman Obaje as a State Focal Person on Primary Health Care Service Delivery.
Kogi State Commissioner for Health, Dr Saka Haruna disclosed this when the traditional ruler paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Lokoja.
The commissioner revealed that the appointment of Alhaji Usman Obaje as a state focal person on health Care Service Delivery took place on the seventh of this month in Abuja.
Doctor Saka thanked the traditional ruler for accepting the appointment, noting that this responsibility would set in motion from one community to another in ensuring adequate health care service delivery.
The Commissioner explained that with this appointment, Alhaji Obaje was now an automatic member of the Oversight Committee on Basic Health Care Provision Fund, State Caring Committee, Save One Million Lives, as well as other programmes that have the support of stakeholders, especially traditional rulers.

He assured the monarch of the commitment and support of the state ministry of health to enable him to achieve success in the responsibilities bestowed on him, and further ensure the delivery of adequate health care services at the grassroots level.
He urged the traditional ruler to educate and guide the people on how best to utilize facilities in health care centres across the state, as well as create awareness on Health Insurance Scheme, saying it would save the people from unnecessary hardship that follows health expenditures.
In a remark, Kogi State Health Promotion Officer, Alhaji Acheku Yusuf stated that the roles and responsibilities of Alhaji Usman Obaje as a Focal Person shall include, but not limited to Ambassador of Immunization, Chairman of Social Mobilization Committee, Coordination of other traditional leaders, Advocacy, Sensitization on health matters.
Alhaji Yusuf explained that the traditional ruler will also work in collaboration with traditional and religious leaders to ensure proper dissemination of information and compliances, which will help the people to key into health indexes.
Responding, the Ejeh of Dekina, Alhaji Usman Obaje commended Governor Yahaya Bello and the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar for finding him worthy of the appointment and promised to justify the confidence reposed in him.
Dr Obaje, who is also the acting Attah of Igala and Chairman, Igala Area Traditional Council also promised to work in collaboration with the state government to ensure that the present administration achieves set objectives in the health sector.
The monarch maintained that he is always ready to attend to any health issue from anyone, and appealed to the state ministry of health to cooperate with him in return to enable them to achieve common health goals.
