Super Falcons win CAF 2024 women’s national team of the year award
The Super Falcons of Nigeria have been named Women’s National Team of the Year at the 2024 CAF Awards held in Marrakech, Morocco.
The Falcons triumphed over South Africa’s Banyana Banyana and Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses to win the prestigious honor.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Ibrahim Gusau, who accepted the award, dedicated it to Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu, for her continued support of women’s football.
The Falcons earned the award after securing their first Olympic qualification in 16 years, although they were eliminated in the group stage of the 2024 Paris Olympics. This came after their impressive performance at the 2023 World Cup, where they reached the Round of 16.
In the men’s category, Ivory Coast’s Elephants won National Team of the Year, defeating Nigeria’s Super Eagles.
