Former NEC Chairman Prof. Humphrey Nwosu passes away at 83 Professor Humphrey Nwosu, former Chairman of the National Electoral Commission (NEC) from 1989 to 1993, has passed away at the age of 83 in a hospital in Virginia, USA. Nwosu played a pivotal role in overseeing the June 12, 1993 presidential election, which is widely considered Nigeria’s most credible democratic exercise, believed to have been won by the late Chief MKO Abiola.
