Abdul Hamid Saka Tinubu is widely known to be the first Muslim medical doctor in Nigeria. He was born in February 1901, his father Alfa Saka Tinubu was a wealthy and influential Lagos businessman, community leader and philanthropist, based at 51 Kakawa Street, Lagos. At 22, he was already at the University of Glasgow where he graduated before his 28th birthday. He returned to Lagos for full medical practice.
