France bans Israeli Minister Smotrich, sanctions settlers over West Bank violence   France has banned Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich from entering its territory, accusing him of supporting the annexation of the occupied West Bank, the expansion of Israeli settlements, and proposals for the “re-colonization” of Gaza. The announcement was made on Monday by French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot, who also unveiled a new round of sanctions targeting four settler leaders and 21 Israeli settlers over what Paris described as escalating settlement activity and violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.
