The Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, says it has reached a key agreement with the Kano State Ministry of Land and Physical Planning to resolve legal disputes that stalled the Kumbotso–Rimin Zakara 330kV transmission line project.

The TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, disclosed this in a statement issued in Abuja on Friday.

She said the meeting, held on Monday and convened by the ministry, addressed the litigation over land ownership and compensation, which had caused significant delays to the project.

”Under the terms of the agreement, the Kano State Government will compensate individuals whose cases remain under legal consideration and provide alternative land to affected parties.

”This resolution removes the final obstacles to the project’s completion,” she said.

According to her, TCN is optimistic that the agreement will accelerate work on the transmission line, which is critical to improving electricity infrastructure and supporting industrial development in the northern parts of the nation.

She said that the development was a major breakthrough in the ongoing efforts to further strengthen the national grid.
