Teachers Recruitment: UBEC cautions applicants against illegal sites
The Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) has issued a strong warning to Nigerians against falling victim to fraudulent recruitment websites claiming to be associated with the Commission.
The Public Relations Officer (PRO) of UBEC, Mr. David Apeh, emphasized in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja that the recruitment sites circulating in the media are not legitimate.
According to Apeh, many Nigerians have reported being unable to log on to these sites, with some even falling for the illusion of ongoing recruitment. Apeh clarified that there is no current teacher recruitment process underway at UBEC, and the commission had not launched any portals for recruitment.
The clarification follows a statement made by the former Minister of State for Education, Dr. Yusuf Sununu, who revealed plans to recruit 3,500 teachers for Federal Unity Colleges. Sununu indicated that the recruitment would play a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of education in the country.
However, UBEC has made it clear that any recruitment announcement will be formally communicated to the public when the process begins.

Apeh also pointed out that the recent appointment of a new Executive Secretary at UBEC has not yet led to any recruitment initiatives, with no portal yet opened for teacher applications. He urged the public to exercise caution and only trust official channels of information when applying for positions.
In response to the illegal sites, Apeh assured that UBEC would provide the public with proper information when it is time for recruitment, and any such development will be made known through authorized communication channels.
