Terrorists kill 14 in Adamawa

At least 14 residents have been killed and two others injured following a deadly attack by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on Mubang and Zar villages in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The attack reportedly occurred at about 9:00 p.m. when the assailants stormed the communities, which are located close to the Sambisa Forest, shooting indiscriminately and setting houses and food storage facilities ablaze.
Confirming the incident, the Chairman of Hong Local Government Area, Usman Inuwa, said the attackers took advantage of the vast, ungoverned terrain surrounding the villages to carry out the assault. He disclosed that several homes were destroyed, while many residents fled to neighbouring communities for safety.

According to Inuwa, although joint patrols involving the military and local vigilante groups had previously repelled similar attacks in the area, the terrorists succeeded this time, resulting in significant loss of lives and property.
“This is a serious situation. These communities are very close to Sambisa Forest, with no buffer villages in between. The terrorists exploit these gaps to attack innocent people,” Inuwa said.
He appealed to the Federal Government to urgently deploy additional troops and air force support to the area to prevent further attacks, stressing that a sustained military presence is needed to secure the affected communities.

Efforts to reach the Adamawa State Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Dr Joe Manzo, and the member representing Uba-Gaya State Constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Adum Alaba, were unsuccessful as they did not respond to calls at the time of filing this report.
Meanwhile, security sources disclosed that troops under Operation Hadin Kai have intensified operations in Hong LGA, leading to the arrest of suspected terror informants identified as Chollu Alhaji, Malam Bako Abubakar, Naftali Gabriel, and Madaiba Joseph.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing as security forces continue clearance operations to restore calm and prevent further attacks in the area.
