The Currents Are Strong, and the Wind Is of No Use: Coalition struggles against a one-party system, by Muhammad Gishiwa II
As we navigate towards the 2027 general election, this ADC-led opposition coalition presents itself as Nigeria’s democratic saviour. Serious questions remain about its unity, sincerity, and capacity to deliver real change. Without clear policies, internal cohesion, and public trust, it risks becoming just another political manoeuvre rather than a genuine solution to corruption and bad governance.
However, seeing that it consists of recycled politicians who, on the other hand, struggle with the fact that their time has passed and reality is letting Nigeria witness a new era of governance[good/bad], this coalition is smelling foul.
Moreover, with some critical questions that can be raised regarding whether this is truly the solution to ending corruption and bad governance in the country, we have to sit down and reflect on what happened and how the merger turned this country into what it is today.

We have to look through the mind of the mind, not just the faces of the coalition leaders, as they have hands and their souls are stained with the sin of leading the APC, the party they are fighting today. Without a doubt, this is nothing but another political vehicle that is going to be used by those who can’t afford to live their lives outside the government’s funding.
In the end, I’m closing on people like Nasiru El-Rufa’i, Hadi Sirika, Rotimi Ameachi, and Rauf Aregbosola played a significant role in bringing APC to power and to them, this is nothing but a test of their influence in the country’s political landscape. For the likes of Atiku and Obi, who were rivals previously and running mates during the 2019 general election under the platform of PDP, are going to do it for themselves, not the poor man.

On top of everything, questions like this run freely in one’s mind, and the hope is to submit to God for a better alternative.

With the party system looming, Nigeria needs only a divine salvation to navigate towards what is better for the country. When the wind abandons you, the current fights you. No captain, no matter how skilled, can lead your ship to shore.
