Ebere Nwoji had previously won the inaugural edition of the award in 2022, surpassing over 100 journalists specializing in the insurance beat. This year, at the recently concluded retreat for Insurance Journalists themed “Improving Stakeholders Perception, 2023 and Beyond,” organized by NAICOM and held in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom state, Mrs. Nwoji was honored with the award for the second time in succession.

During the ceremony, Rasaq Salami, Assistant Director/Head of Corporate Affairs at NAICOM, announced Mrs. Nwoji as the deserving winner after an extensive review of print media materials, including newspapers, magazines, and cartoons, pertaining to insurance coverage in 2023. The mention of her name evoked applause and ovation from friends and colleagues, who testified to her expertise and profound understanding of the sector.

The affirmation of her knowledge had already been highlighted by Mrs. Augustina Onojake, NAICOM’s Assistant Director (Compliance Bureau life), during her presentation on “Re-awakening the Nigeria Insurance industry through Claims Settlement,” where she cited one of Mrs. Nwoji’s definitions to reinforce her points.

Malam Abubakar Sabiu, the Deputy Commissioner for Insurance (Technical), congratulated Mrs. Nwoji while presenting her with the well-deserved award, recognizing her outstanding performance. He expressed gratitude and appreciation for her significant contributions to the field of journalism.
