Tinubu, Biden set to confer at UN General Assembly
Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu is set to meet with U.S. President Joe Biden during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly in New York next month, as confirmed by his spokesman on Saturday.
The U.N. General Assembly, scheduled from September 18 to 26 in New York, will be the backdrop for this significant meeting.
In a statement, Presidency spokesman Ajuri Ngelale announced that Tinubu has graciously accepted the invitation, which was personally delivered by U.S. presidential envoy and Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Molly Phee.

During their meeting, the two leaders are expected to discuss the situation in Niger. Tinubu, who also chairs the regional bloc ECOWAS, is actively collaborating with other West African heads of government to find a solution following a military junta’s seizure of power in Niger.
Furthermore, Tinubu, who has initiated some of Nigeria’s boldest reforms in decades, will use this opportunity to call for increased U.S. investment in his country.
He will also advocate for greater cooperation in defending democracy across West Africa, particularly in light of the rising number of coup incidents in the region.
