Tinubu, Gov. Buni, ex-president Buhari, Speaker Abbas mourn elder statesman, Dr. Adamu Fika
Promimemt Nigerians like President Bola Tinubu, former President Muhammadu Buhari, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Honourable Abbas Tajudeen have expressed grief over the passing of Alhaji Adamu Fika, elder statesman and one-time Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, who died on Tuesday at the age of 90.
Sending his condolence in a statement signed by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Special Adviser to the president on Media and Publicity, President Tinubu recalled the salient roles the Wazirin Fika played in nurturing the enduring institution responsible for the articulation and implementation of public policies at a trying time for the Federal Civil Service.
He said the late Fika’s contributions both as Head of Service and chairman of different civil service reform panels were indelible in the annals of Nigeria’s history.
“Alhaji Adamu Fika’s life of service to Nigeria saw him hold various important positions, before his elevation to the Office of Head of the Civil Service of the Federation; a post he held until his retirement,” the President said.
Condoling with the government and people of Yobe State, President Tinubu said Alhaji Fika left behind a legacy of accomplishments, integrity, passion for service, and commitment worthy of emulation by public servants and other compatriots.
Similarly, the Executive Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, has described the death of the Wazirin Fika as a great national loss, and a loss with a wide vacuum to his family, Fika Emirate, and Yobe State.
Mourning the loss of the elder statesman, Governor Buni said, “I also pray to Almighty Allah to grant his family and Fika Emirate the fortitude to bear this huge and irreplaceable loss.”
Also mourning the demise of the veteran Permanent Secretary and former Head of Service of the Federation, former President Muhammadu Buhari, in a condolence message to the deceased’s family and the government and people of Yobe State, said he has lost a remarkable friend, adviser and a dependable ally.

In a condolence message issued by his spokesman, Malam Garba Shehu, Muhammadu Buhari said, “Dr. Fika’s ascent from humble beginnings to his leadership role in the affairs of the nation, rising to the post of the Head of Service is a testament to his unparalleled determination and dedication to public service.
Dr. Fika’s passing leaves a void in the hearts of many in his native home of Fika, and the Northern states where he served as the Secretary of the Interim Common Services Agency, ICSA, which saw the peaceful transfer and division of assets of the former six northern states and as Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF, and the country at large. His legacies in the public sphere will continue to shape the nation’s economic and political landscape for years to come.”
In the same vein, the Speaker of the House of Representatives Honourable Abbas Tajudeen, has expressed sadness over the death of Dr. Adamu Fika.
The Speaker described Adamu Fika’s death as a loss not only to the people and government of Yobe State but the entire country.
Speaker Abbas said Dr. Fika was an elder statesman and technocrat of note whose sterling records in the public and private sectors were commendable.
In a statement signed by Musa Abdullahi Krishi, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to the Speaker, House of Representatives, Honourable Abbas commiserated with his family and prayed Allah to grant Dr. Fika Jannatul Firdaus.
