Tragedy as 6 female CAN members in Taraba die in auto crash

Six members of the Women’s Wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (WOWICAN), who were returning from a conference in Gembu, the main city of Sardauna Local Government Area in Taraba have tragically died in a car accident.

The women, who belonged to the Taraba chapter of WOWICAN, were travelling in a bus with a capacity of 18 passengers and were on their way back to Jalingo, the state capital, after attending a conference in Gembu.

According to reports, the tragic accident occurred on Sunday afternoon.

The Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has expressed his sorrow and sympathy for the deceased members of WOWICAN.

Speaking through his spokesperson, Emmanuel Bello, the Governor offered his condolences to the families of the victims of the road crash.

He described the incident as a “heartbreaking and tragic black Sunday for the state.”

The Governor also extended his sympathies to the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), WOWICAN, and the entire Christian community in Taraba and Nigeria.

“The circumstances surrounding their demise are undeniably tragic as they were returning from the CAN Women’s Wing Conference which concluded yesterday in Gembu, Sardauna Local Government Area in Taraba state,” the statement said.

While praying for the souls of the departed, the Governor assured that his government remains committed to ensuring safer roads, particularly in areas that pose significant risks to life.
