Tribunal dismisses testimonies of Labour Party’s witnesses
The Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) has dismissed the testimonies of 10 out of 13 witnesses who testified on behalf of the Labour Party (LP) in the ongoing petition challenging the presidential win of President Bola Tinubu in the 2023 general election.
The witnesses, who were either subpoenaed or professional witnesses, were found to be “incompetent” and their testimonies were declared “worthless” by the PEPT, Politics Nigeria reports.

Justice Tsammani also declared that witnesses 3,4,5,6, 7,8,9,10,11 and 13 subpoenaed by LP are not witnesses of the court.
The witness statements, he said, were filed out of time.
Earlier in their ruling, the Election Petitions Tribunal dismissed Peter Obi’s claims of majority votes.
The court stated that the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have failed to demonstrate how they obtained the majority of lawful votes in the February 25 presidential election.
Justice Abba Bello Mohammed delivered the leading judgment, noting that the LP made general allegations of irregularities, vote suppression, and corrupt practices in states like Rivers, Benue, Lagos, Taraba, Imo, and Osun. However, they failed to specify the affected polling units.
